As his season-long loan at Tottenham Hotspur expires, Timo Werner allegedly wants to make the move permanent.
In January, the German striker moved from the Bundesliga to the Premier League as Ange Postecoglou tried to accommodate Son Heung-min up front.
The Australian manager saw his chance when Werner appeared to be unhappy at RB Leipzig due to his lack of playing time at the moment.
The former Chelsea player and the North London team reached an agreement, with the former player signing on a six-month loan.
The 28-year-old has only scored three goals in 13 league games thus far, so his time in the capital hasn’t been as productive as we may have thought.
Werner, however, is apparently content at Spurs and wants to make the move permanent, according to German source Bild, which reported this via Team Talk.
According to the article, Spurs’ buy option worth £14.5 million is included in the contract; however, it expires on June 14.
It appears improbable that the German striker will be able to re-enter Leipzig’s starting lineup, which is now led by Lois Opends and Benjamin Sesko.
In their season finale on Sunday afternoon, Spurs take on Sheffield United; should the Blues triumph and they fail, they may fall behind Chelsea.
